About the event
Xogara and Owl Light Trio
Xogara are an Anglo-Welsh-Galician multi-instrumental four-piece with a joyous sound that is both deeply rooted in tradition and emphatically their own. Xogara combines the sublime singing of Siriol Davies (voice and oboe), John Ruddock (guitar and bouzouki), Jo Hamilton (sax, flute, English bagpipes) and Mano Panforreteiro (gaita/Galician bagpipes, whistles, percussion). https://xogara.bandcamp.com/music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGtQ9Ulu7kU
Owl Light Trio are Jim Penny on concertina, Jane Griffiths on fiddle and viola and Colin Fletcher on guitar. All three musicians have deep roots in traditional music, share a passion for tunes from Ireland, the UK and Brittany, and draw upon their combined influences to create complex, compelling and heartfelt arrangements. The trio released their second album ‘Sound into Light’ on 1 May to glowing reviews: ‘Beautifully played, full of tunes to dance to and brimming with charm’. (Tradfolk) www.owllighttrio.com
