Drawing and Painting, in Watercolour, Acrylic and Mixed Media Tuesday 2 – 4.30pm using both the left and
We will be exploring imaginative and experimental ways to draw and paint from landscape, still life and the imagination.
You will be encouraged to find your own personal language through the medium of paint, with reference to various contemporary artists. We often start off the term with timed, warm up, drawing exercises, using both the left and the
right hand, to keep things fresh. New students wanting to join the group will be invited in to visit us. Beginners don’t have to buy materials until they are sure they want to continue, as the tutor always has paints, charcoal etc for students to borrow. Paper is available for sale at the art centre. The group is made up of figurative and abstract artists. We refer to other contemporary artists for inspiration, depending on what’s showing in the local and national collections. This can often
prompt an interesting discussion amongst the group as nobody has to agree with the tutor!
This is a mixed ability art group. Beginners welcome.

Clowning Around - Comedy Improv Workshop First Wednesday of the month 7.30-9.00pm
"Fancy a giggle? Want to let out your inner clown? Maybe you're keen to work on your acting skills or stage confidence?
Or you just want to try something new?!
'Clowning Around Crediton', is a monthly fun, casual and supportive workshop created for anyone who wants to explore the world of improv comedy! Aside from having a laugh, our goal is to create an open, safe space that is accessible to everyone, where mistakes are seen as tools for learning and we let go of the idea of perfection in order to fully express ourselves both on stage and throughout life. The focus of the group is improv comedy but will draw on techniques and elements from a range of performance styles including; clowning, stand up, mime, ensemble acting and many more. We will draw upon traditional forms of comedy such as Commedia Dell'arte, and bring them into the present day taking into consideration the influence of social media and globalisation.
Led by local comedian, Ami Maya, who gained a Bachelors in Comedy and Satire from Goldsmiths University, the classes are designed to be a comfortable but exciting way to learn about the art of improv. The aim of the workshop is to build the confidence and self assurance to release your inner clown, whilst also developing a range of skills that help with all kinds of performing."
