We are proud to feel very much part of the community in Crediton and the surrounding areas. We have worked hard to get involved in community events as widely as possible. Here are some of the things we do:
Crediton Food Festival
The Food Festival is an annual weekend-long celebration of local produce based in the Town Square. It features food and drink stalls, food-related activities, cookery demonstrations as well as music and The Big Sunday Lunch. Find out more at www.creditonfoodfestival.co.uk.
On a Saturday morning every summer we fill the town with musicians, putting them in shops, cafes and on the pavements. Folk, jazz, classical, choirs and experimental, it's all there. This is an unmissable free event, a wonderful celebration of Crediton's musical community.
NEW FROM SEPTEMBER 2018: The Arts Centre joins forces with Costa Coffee to present THE SUNDAY SESSION, a new Open Mic showcasing the best of Crediton's musical talent, and affording the opportunity for anyone who wants to get up and give a song. Friends of the Arts centre receive a 10% discount on hot drinks.
Last Sunday of each month, 2-5pm, Costa Coffee, 28 High Street EX17 3AH. Contact Jack Robson 01363 773260 / 07968 957414.
The Arts Centre plays a leading role in the biannual Crediton Festival, which features a huge range of performances and events including theatre, dance, music and film in venues and outdoor spaces across the town. Visit www.credfest.co.uk for more information.
Christmas in Crediton
The Arts Centre joins forces with the Town Council each year to organise festivities to mark the switching on of the Christmas Lights in late November. In some years this has involved a spectacular parade along the High Street, as well as entertainment in the town square.
Crediton Flag Project
The Arts Centre started the Flag Project in 2013 , when the town was decorated with 40 colourful flags to mark the six week Crediton Festival. Each flag was individually designed and made by a local business or community group at a series of artist-led workshops. The flags proved so popular with locals and visitors, that we decided to flag up the town again in 2014, making a further 15 flags to increase the impact. In 2015 Crediton Town Team took over managing the project, which has now become an annual event. A book telling the story of our Flag Project, including photos of all the flags, can be viewed or bought here.
